Chen Zhiguang’s bonsai series not only transforms the materials of real objects and stylizes artistic creation, but also forms an exhibition through what looks like “restored objects”. In fact, the fragments intercepted by the artist reflect his thoughts on Contemporary Chinese society. Bonsai is actually an extension of the sculpture works of ant theme work migration and broken wood series, From the two aspects of painting and sculpture, we continue to express our thinking on transplantation and mobility. The mobility of people in Contemporary Chinese society and the adaptation to the environment are mixed with nostalgic emotions and hopes. We can change the environment, create and adapt to the new environment. Chinese society has been following this process since the reform and opening up in 1978.
