Love Letter originates from Liang Long’s new album ONCE IN A LIFETIME. Conceived as a micro–film blending live music and experimental cinema, the work unfolds on a symbolized stage: a labyrinth of light. Within it, Liang Long wavers and traverses, his body performing like an act of live art—enacting the individual’s disorientation and search within the structures of our time.
Interwoven filmic images deepen the dialogue: a white shirt drifting in midair confronts the solitary figure in the maze, while a sudden beam of light slices through darkness, becoming both a subjective camera and a memory of trauma. Sung in a tone at once sardonic and mournful, sketches the struggle of the “birdman”: flight does not guarantee freedom, and a fall does not mean the end.
The work offers no false escape. Instead, it grants a lucid courage: the exit of the labyrinth does not pre-exist—it is created through walking and illuminating. Love Letter becomes a letter addressed to all who still fly like trapped beasts, acknowledging human fragility yet celebrating the refusal to fall. We are but dust, once in a century, and yet also light, once in a century.
